What Is Glass Skin and How Can You Achieve It?

Have you ever heard of glass skin? Glass skin is the new trend, but what does it mean?

It's a Korean concept of achieving a glowing youthful complexion by layering hydrating skincare to give off a glass-like complexion. It's so popular that you can even find different skincare products with the keyword "glass" listed in their description. This type of skin has a glowing effect to it as well. It also makes your pores appear smaller which creates an even smoother look. I can already hear you asking — how do I get this?

First and foremost glass skin is the result of a healthy lifestyle and strict skincare routine. It’s about looking after yourself on the inside with good food and radiating happiness, this is then highlighted with great care to detail with skincare.

In terms of skincare, this is what glass skin is based around:

Step 1: Double-Cleanse

In asian skincare, the key to cleansing is to always double cleanse, especially important at the end of the day with the dirt build-up and any makeup you have on. Start with an oil cleanser first to separate all the products on your face and to make them easier to separate. We then recommend using a nice soft gentle cleanser afterwards like our Sessu Ultra Gentle Gel Cleanser to ensure that the residual dirt and oil are removed from your face. Or you can go in twice with the same cleanser to save on products.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and other build-ups on your skin. Use a gentle exfoliator that will leave a subtle glow to your skin, you can also use tools to help aid this like our Konjac cleaning sponge. The konjac is a porous root vegetable that grows in Asia. The plant is naturally alkaline, which leaves skin perfectly balanced.

Step 3: Use a Toner

Double cleansing will open up your pores so now it’s time for a toner that will close the pores and help maintain your skin’s pH levels. Use our hydrating toner mist with Organic Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, Hyaluronic Acid & Kakadu Plum Extract. Suitable for all skintypes which cools and hydrates.

Step 4: Apply Essence

Now you might be wondering, ‘what exactly is an essence?’ Essence works as a primer for your skincare routine and is a water-based skincare product, that includes active ingredients to hydrate, protect, and boost the overall health and look of your skin.

Step 5: Apply Serum and Sheet Mask

A good serum is crucial to getting that glass-like skin. Lots of serums do different things but essentially for this, we’re looking for a serum that will refresh, hydrate and boost the skins complexion. Take a look at our ultra facial serum that includes the combination of Hyaluronic Acid, Gotu Kola and Iris Florentina Extract to help to heal and improve elasticity.

Step 6: Use Eye Cream and Moisturiser

Eyecreams and moisturisers lock in the moisture your skin needs (especially after a long sleep or a long day out in the sun). Choose an eye cream that is lightweight as your under eye area is more delicate. For moisturisers try something that is super hydrating and will last all day (like our replenish antioxidant moisturiser).

Step 7: Use Sunscreen

A skincare tip that will never go out of style is to use sunscreen. No matter your skin type, the sun is damaging to your skin in excessive amounts so make sure you’re always starting your day with sunscreen and reapplying if you are constantly outside or around blue light.

The key to remember with glass skin is hydration and adding moisture to your skin care routine. If you incorporate all these steps into your skincare routine you’ll be repping that glass skin in no time.
